Alone I sit, alone, and yet
Around, within, the mem’ries get
Enhanced and starry, marred with time,
The meetings, lovings, all are mine.
Take a moment, take a day:
Each is a story in its way,
But when it’s gone, another comes,
Enriched and heightened, feelings stunned.
The joy is there, the loving too,
All is centred just on you.
But you’re not here to share this time
Of love and longing that is mine.
Alone it seems a pointless task,
To share it, that its all I ask.
The crowds around me talk and laugh,
I join them, yet I’m torn in half,
For part of me is still with you
Yet all of me with with them too.
Inside the lonely heart beats slow
Too dull to look about or know
If others understand or see
That part of you still lives in me.
